Chapter 9: Deception and Rage
August 14th, 2006It was a hot morning and being in suits to impress Lighthorn only made it worse. ” Chris, I’m not so sure we should go in there armed.” ” It’s a chance we’re just going to have to take,” said Chris. ” Its 8: 50 A.M. lets move.”
Standing in the giant factory made Chris and David look tiny. ” So good of you to come,” said a voice overhead. There standing on an iron bridge was Curtis Lighthorn grinning down at them. ” Do you have my order?” ” Of course, do you have our money,” asked Chris. ” Lets go upstairs and chat, shall we,” ordered Lighthorn. They were led into another room with carpet, bathroom, fan, window with a view, lots of paintings, and a rack of swords. ” Syther, search them, wouldn’t want any mishaps today,” grinned Lighthorn. Syther reached and grabbed both of their guns and put them on the table.
” Want to know what I hate,” asked Lighthorn. ” I hate liars, liars only cause trouble in my eyes, wouldn’t you agree…Mr. Knox?” Chris was startled and knew that they had made a mistake coming to the factory. Josef and Syther pointed their guns at Chris and David. ” Oh yes, don’t think I have forgotten about you Mr. White.” Reacting as they were trained to do, Chris and David kicked the guns out of Josef and Syther’s hands. They then started throwing punches everywhere. David was able to pin Josef onto the ground, but Chris on the other hand was having difficulty.
Out of the corner of Chris’s eyes he saw Lighthorn run off with the drugs. ” David, catch up with Lighthorn,” screamed Chris as he attempted to bard off Syther’s punches. David was able to knock Josef out and run off.
Chris pushed Syther and stopped. “My name is Knox…Chris Knox, you murdered my parents, prepare to feel my pain.” Syther smirked, ” Your father was on the verge of busting us, he knew everything, it was only a matter of time.” ” What about my mother,” screamed Chris? ” Your mother was killed as a warning to your father to stay away, when that failed I killed him as well, but I seemed to forget about you, a mistake I do not wish to duplicate.”
Chris couldn’t bear it any longer. He grabbed two of the swords that were on the rack and threw one to Syther. Syther drew his quickly and Chris drew his right after. Chris was an expert at fencing, but not anything like this. The two swords clashed and Chris drew away quickly coming into a lunge, Syther blocked this easily and tore a gash into Chris’s arm. Syther then started lashing all sorts of combos out at Chris. Chris was barley able to dodge these but found an opportunity to strike and ended up slicing Syther’s left arm. The gash made it identical to the one on the right. Chris did not stop there; he slashed at Syther’s legs and face but to no avail. Chris jumped the couch over to the window and just as Syther was lunging, moved away from the window, pinning Syther to it. Syther slashed but missed. ” This is for my parents,” Chris shouted and kicked Syther so hard that he crashed through the window.
Chris ran off to the direction that David ran off too. It didn’t take long before Chris found Lighthorn and David; David was pinned up against a wall with a gun in his face. Chris ran over to them, going to attempt to hit Lighthorn, but Lighthorn was quick to react. ” Get back!” Chris and David could only rely on their wits at this point so they didn’t do anything stupid. Chris saw an open spot and socked Lighthorn in the stomach attempting to knock the wind out of him, but the plan failed and only made Lighthorn angry. He cocked the gun and before anyone could do anything there was a gunshot. All seemed still for quite a while, Lighthorn fell to the floor and they saw Mr. Brinkley holding a gun to Lighthorn’s back. ” He’s only wounded, get a medic over here,” yelled Brinkley. ” You two all right?” ” Yeah, we’re fine,” responded David.
The police arrested Curtis Lighthorn and Josef Hudson under attempt of murder, possession of drugs and many other accounts. In the trial they both pleaded guilty under all charges and were sent to life in prison.
” Lets go home partner,” smiled David. ” Yeah, I’m good with that,” beamed Chris. ” Hey David.” ” Yeah, Chris?” ” I bet you I can beat you in a swimming race.”
” Is this a challenge,” asked David ” Because if it is, you’re on!”
